  • An Alternative to Obamacare
    • We agree with Senator's Coburn and Burr. The problem isn't affordable healthcare, the problem is that the tax code orients affordable healthcare around being employed to a large employer. In the 1930's, FDR was going to take over healthcare, but businesses convinced him that they could handle it. This was good ... for the industrial era. However, we're no longer in the industrial era. We need a healthcare tax code policy that fits today's economy. That means orienting things at the individual level. Orienting things at the Federal Government level will be worse than today's problem. It is an industrial age style proposal!

On the Federal Enabler of Socialism:
  • Is It Time To Stress-Test the Federal Reserve?
    • We're all for corralling the Federal Reserve. However, if at the end of the day, it means that the now answer to Barney Frank, then that would disaster for everyone. The answer is not to put Barney Frank in charge. The answer is to liberate interest rates from manipulation by the Federal Government politicians, both Democrat and Republican.

Is it not ironic that on the eve of the country facing the greatest demographic challenge any nation has ever faced (i.e. baby boomers retiring), that the politicians are doing their collective best to ensure we are in the most unprepared position possible?

On Gun Control
  • Democrats and Guns
    • "By 67-29, the Senate passed Oklahoma Republican Tom Coburn's amendment to let law-abiding visitors carry legal firearms into national parks." It hasn't passed the House yet. However, have the liberals lost the gun control debate with the Democrat Party?

Yes, that includes the stimulus promoted by both President Bush and President Obama. Although Bush's stimulus pales in comparison to the spending binge fest recklessly promoted by President Obama. It's time for taxpayers to denounce Keynesian Economics, and rip it out of the government and universities.

Excuse me? What do you call FDR's confiscating all the gold in the country? The only reason the Federal Government has not gone bankrupt is because the Federal Reserve debases the dollar (aka inflation) on its behalf. Yes, it's true they still "pay", but it is only done via a "pretend payment" of money worth less than the money the debt was issued in. So, run that by us again, what were you saying about the government having never gone bankrupt and how social security can save us all?

How do you make liberal laugh? Just follow these ingredients: (1) Equate dissent with treason. (2) Liken a domestic political opponent to a foreign enemy. (3) Make fun of the disabled (Limbaugh's past addiction to painkillers would entitle him to protection under the Americans With Disabilities Act). (4) Make light of a form of interrogation that some people consider torture. (5) Wish somebody dead. [Adopted from "Best of Web", WSJ; May 11, 2009]

Montana Firearms Freedom Act and State Sovereignty

Montana recently passed a law asserting authority over guns made, sold and held in its state. This formulation is specifically designed to preclude the Federal Government from being able to claim jurisdiction over these weapons.
"It's a gun bill, but it's another way of demonstrating the sovereignty of the state of Montana," said Democratic Gov. Brian Schweitzer
State sovereignty resolutions have been popping up in several states. NH considered one a couple months ago. Now that Montana has passed this law, Utah is considering following its lead. Minnesota, Alaska, Texas, Tennessee and South Carolina already have. Tom Woods explains, in general, why these laws and resolutions are a big deal has to do with the relationship between the Federal Government, States and the People. If the Federal Government commits unconstitutional acts, and doesn't police itself, is there any recourse?

The large number of state sovereignty resolutions is evidence that numerous states are alarmed at the activity in DC. It is plain that a major dispute is brewing between the States and the Federal Government.

Clearly, seventy-six years after the U.S. Congress delegated the task of overseeing the national currency to the Federal Reserve Banking System, it's evident that Federal Reserve have been excellent stewards of the currency that the Constitution had entrusted with Congress and it would only follow that Congress should delegate to the Federal Reserve even more authority over the currency, banking system and economy. Federal Reserve is Libertarian?

In the Financial Times, Henry Kaufman wrote a piece titled: How libertarian dogma led the Fed astray. All I can say is, say what?!

Attention Mr. Kaufman: the Federal Reserve is a banking cartel, designed for one purpose, to protect the commercial banks. The complete anti-thesis of libertarian dogma. If anything, taking the effort to simultaneously smear libertarianism and attach it to the Federal Reserve (arch-enemy of libertarians) is such a bizarre maneuver that I can only conclude that libertarian dogma has become a serious threat to the establishment.

Should Wall Street Be Prosecuted With RICO?

Paul Farrell asks us to vote, are Wall Street bankers "racketeers to be indicted or revolutionary American Heros?" How real is the "Goldman Conspiracy" and what about a federal prosecution under RICO, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act? More imporantly, he asks, if Goldman Sachs is the "superpower" now running America and the World, do we really have a choice?

I say, what's a couple trillion dollars between
taxpayers friends? Frankly, if Wall Street is not prosecuted, then we should be asking: Why Congress Won't Investigate Wall Street

    Are You A Bondholder?

If you're a bondholder, then you may want to watch the bankruptcy proceedings with Chrysler. On April 30th, President Obama announced Chrysler entering bankruptcy that will efficiently shed its debts. [Bankruptcy was needed because] "A group of investment firms and hedge funds decided to hold out for the prospect of an unjustified taxpayer-funded bailout," Obama said. "They were hoping that everybody else would make sacrifices and they would have to make none," he said. "I don't stand with them."

However, you may want to consider what is actually happening. First, there is going to be a taxpayer-financed bailout going on, just not for the bondholders, but for the banks. The Federal government will give another $8 billion to Chrysler. Also, the bondholders are going to get their rights stiffed in the bankruptcy proceedings via a 363 sale, as explained by AmLawDaily (A Quick Primer on the Chrysler Bankruptcy and Can Stubborn Bondholders Delay A Chrysler Rebirth?) and the Bankruptcy Litigation Blog

If the government sanctions steamrolling bondholders of private enterprise debt, how will they treat the bondholders of public (aka U.S. Treasury) debt?

Federal Reserve Statement: Still Planning on Creating $1.75 Trillion to Manipulate Bond Market

The Federal Open Market Committee released that, as previous announced, the Federal Reserve System will buy $1.75 trillion in MBS, agency debt and treasuries.

Let's just put that in perspective. Last year's total Federal tax revenue was just under $3 trillion. Now, with the stroke of a pen, the Federal Reserve will buy $1.75T in bonds. Where does this $1.75T come from? A technology Fed Chairman Bernanke praised and which is commonly referred to as the printing press (aka, out of thin air).
