"In 2004, right after the first weekend of muzzleloading season, he left a friend's hunting camp in Pittsburg, stopped to check his own vacation place in Bethlehem, and was heading down the pike when he came upon a police cruiser and a dead animal at the New Hampton town line. The car was pulled off into the dirt. The animal was stretched across the breakdown and travel lanes. “I instantly realized that it was a cougar,” Paul said."
