Federal Reserve is Libertarian?

In the Financial Times, Henry Kaufman wrote a piece titled: How libertarian dogma led the Fed astray. All I can say is, say what?!

Attention Mr. Kaufman: the Federal Reserve is a banking cartel, designed for one purpose, to protect the commercial banks. The complete anti-thesis of libertarian dogma. If anything, taking the effort to simultaneously smear libertarianism and attach it to the Federal Reserve (arch-enemy of libertarians) is such a bizarre maneuver that I can only conclude that libertarian dogma has become a serious threat to the establishment.
